Responsibility and Experiences

What positions of responsibility have you held (not necessarily business related)? What have you gained from these experiences?

Right from secondary school I have been participating actively in all the cultural events. I was the head of student body of my secondary school for five years. I regularly took part in the inter school and intra school debate, creative writing, learning oriented events and competitions. In college also I was part of the organizing body for the organization of regular social events and annual cultural events. My participation in these organizing bodies included everything from raising funds to sponsors to schedule and execute the events on the very day. In cognizant I have organized several team building events: team outing, team dinner, entertainment sessions in the project and domain. The yearly meet of Banking and Financial domain this year was organized entirely by me. These experiences have helped me to grow strong interpersonal and organizing abilities which enable me to become an energetic part of community I live in.

During college I formed band “Jumble Hops” along with some of my friends to follow our passion for music and performed at several venues throughout the city of Kolkata. Love for music led me to form a band called “PreCogs” in the organization I work for. Soon after its inception, this band has been performing in all the major events and has received appreciation from all around in the organization. Performing onstage enables me to communicate with an  audience filled with energy and enthusiasm. The applause of the crowd brings a state of delight to my mind which is relaxing and fulfilling at the same time. Music keeps me inspired and motivated to triumph over the obstacles and achieve what I want. Music is a treasure which has been transferred, preserved, and evolved through generations starting from the very beginning of human race. It is a medium that assents camaraderie and brotherhood by harmonizing different cultures. Music inspires me to contribute to the society by thinking differently and bringing positive change.

I volunteer for “Outreach” regularly. It is the CSR wing of Cognizant and it has made a tangible difference worldwide in spreading education to the underprivileged. We organize sessions in schools which have weak  infrastructure through school adoption programs where we conduct coaching classes, science awareness, talent competitions.
