Comment on the barriers you encountered that impacted your
team's ability to realize its full potential. (please limit your answer to 250

When a group of people with complementary skills come
together to achieve a common goal, the group is termed as a team. Because a
team comprises of humans with different skillsets, interpersonal barrier or gap
in communication is a challenege faced by any team. While working in different
teams throughout my carrier I have learnt that communication serves as the most
important criteria which ensures that the team performs as one unit while bad
communication raises the chances of conflicts between the memebrs and can lead
the entire team to failure.
Lack of participation by the
members in the major activities such as team meetings, knowledge sessions can
become barrier in the teams way to success. Unless evryone is involved in the
process each member’s talent cannot be used to the fullest. I have experienced
that lack of involvment brings forth additional problems: Lack of initiation, commitment, imagination,
innovation et al.
Recognition for the good works is important for sucess of a
team. Appreciation of a team member for his or her efforts motivates the person
and raises the benchmarkfor others to follow. But many a times the adjudicators
make wrong selections resulting in dissatisfaction and state of conflict among
the team members.
Another barrier that I have
come across is the distribution of work. Members should be given responsibilities and the power to
decide on a solution to a problem. It brings out the best in them and the
creativity grows by leaps and bounds.
